The Seattle Ki Society is a Dojo where you can study Ki-Aikido. Aikido means “the way to union with the ki of the universe.” It is a defense-focused martial art, founded in the 1920s. Ki-Aikido is the rigorous physical discipline combined with personal development and cultivation of your energy.
We were introduced to the Seattle Ki Society by Randy, the “bWyse Smart Guy” (Wendy’s husband). Randy has studied Ki-Aikido for years. This past October, Randy’s most recent nine-year focus resulted in the achievement of his black belt.
The Seattle Ki Society offers a full schedule of classes for both children and adults, including introductory programs for the beginner to advanced training. Many of the senseis are ranked multi-level black belts and certified by the Ki Society International in Japan. The dojo is led by Sensei Susan Grigsby.
The Seattle Ki Society has been a client of bWyse since 2005. They were in need of a new website hosting company, and also wanted to be able to maintain the content on the website themselves. They loved the design of the website and wanted the new site to use the old design. Seattle Ki Society has challenged us as well … being one of our first clients to integrate custom Pay Pal functionality into their website to manage their class payments.
Each January the dojo celebrates the New Year with a cold water training and New Year celebration. This year’s cold water training occurs on the 28th at Golden Gardens Park. If you know of someone who may be interested in studying this discipline, please share this blog post with them!
