Have a Plan … And Stick to It

Define your online marketing plan. Include all the different types of marketing you will implement over a period of time. We recommend at least a six-month plan – but a one year plan is even better! Here are a few ideas for how to reach your customer base:

  • Blog posts
  • Videos
  • Email blasts

Also … your plan should include your schedule for adding new products/services. Make it easy for your customers to want to check back to view what’s new.

Be sure to plan to review your schedule each week. Consistency supports the growth of your customer loyalty.

Create a Customer Loyalty Program

A customer loyalty programs, such as reward points, special discounts, or stamp cards encourage loyalty to your brand, and keep your customers spending money with your store. Don’t hesitate to give your best customers a little something extra.

Offer Free Shipping

Make sure that your shipping choices are better than your competitors. In today’s market, and especially during the holidays, you almost MUST offer Free Shipping to your customers. Spend some time figuring out the best, fastest way to ship your products to your customers.

Have a Process for Recovering Abandoned Carts

Abandoned carts occur when customers fail to complete the purchase process on your eCommerce website. It is important to have a business process established for identifying and acting upon the abandoned carts. One idea is to send a reminder email to the customer, with a special discount offer to use when they complete their purchase. Additionally, seeking feedback as to why the cart was abandoned in the first place may offer insight into how your eCommerce website is, or isn't working.
