A Look at Google's Cool New Search Tool, SGE

Google has come up with a cool new way to search for stuff online, called SGE (Search, Guide, Engage). Unlike the old way where you get a long list of links to click on, SGE gives you a straight answer to your question, plus some options to learn more if you want.

Here's how SGE did when we tried it out:

What's Cool About SGE:

• • Quick Answers: SGE is like that smart friend who always has quick answers. Whether you’re looking for the meaning of a word, some facts about a place, or info on a famous person, SGE has got your back.
  • More Questions? No Problem: If you have more questions after getting your answer, SGE helps you out with extra info. This is super helpful when you’re diving into topics for school projects.
  • Only What You Need: SGE takes you to websites or videos only if it's really needed, which is great because it doesn’t overwhelm you with too much stuff.

Where SGE Could Do Better:

• • A Bit Slow Sometimes: When you're chatting with SGE, it may take a bit longer to respond compared to some other chatbots like ChatGPT, especially if you ask something long or tricky.
  • A Little Messy: The screen can get a bit cluttered, especially when you're asking a lot of follow-up questions.  It's like having a desk with too many papers on it.
  • Task Trouble: SGE finds it tough to do specific tasks.  Unlike ChatGPT, which is pretty good at this, SGE needs some more practice.

Exciting Things Coming Up:

SGE is not just any search tool; it's like a glimpse into the future. Though we’ve seen just a bit of what it can do, there are some awesome features coming up:

• • Summarizing Websites: Imagine not having to read through long boring pages because SGE can give you a quick summary.  That’s going to save a lot of time!
  • Helping with Code: For those who like to code, SGE is planning to help find and fix errors in your code, which sounds super helpful.

SGE is a cool step towards making searching online easier and more interactive.  Even though it has a few things to work on, the way it gives quick answers and the cool features that are coming up make it something to look forward to.  SGE isn’t just about searching; it's about making it easier and more fun to find and learn new things online.  And who doesn't like that?
