Facebook Engagement Series - Part #2: Use Organic Post Preferred Audience Targeting to Serve Relevant Content

This week we explore ways you can use other social media channels to test the engagement potential of your Facebook posting content.  For example, you can post short blips on Twitter of the Facebook content you intend to use.  Check the engagement on Twitter – the retweets, clicks, likes and replies.  Then, only post the most engaging content on Facebook.

Leveraging Social Media Channels and Effective Strategies for Enhanced Facebook Engagement

This week, we delve into innovative ways you can utilize other social media platforms to gauge the engagement potential of your Facebook content. For instance, consider posting snippets of your intended Facebook content on Twitter. Monitor the engagement level on Twitter, including retweets, clicks, likes, and replies. Then, strategically select and post the most engaging content on Facebook.

Facebook has a feature to foster and inspire increased interaction with your posts by your friends and followers. Named "What friends are talking about," the feature's objective is to stimulate more conversation on Facebook.

This feature consolidates several of your friends' recent posts and showcases them in a dedicated section at the top of your newsfeed. Here, they're not only easy to view, but you can also observe the number of comments each post has garnered. Keep an eye on the top of your newsfeed for this new feature.

Strategies for Posting Engaging Content on Facebook

Enhance Your Image Quality

It can be disheartening when an image you post on Facebook gets cropped poorly, ruining the visual appeal. Familiarize yourself with Facebook's image dimensions and take a moment to resize your images to ensure they always look impressive. Here are some standard dimensions:

News Feed Image: 1200 x 1200 px
Link/URL Preview: 1200 x 628 px
Video Preview: 504 x 283 px

Use tools like PicMonkey.com or Canva.com to edit your images before posting them.

Craft Lengthier Posts

Posts that exceed 80 words on Facebook typically generate over double the engagement compared to shorter ones. Your Facebook audience is interested in your insights, so don't hesitate to write more!

Experiment with Punctuation

Different punctuation can yield varying results, so don't shy away from testing what works best with your Facebook audience! Posts with hashtags (#) receive 60% more interactions, while those with exclamation points (!) see a 2.7% increase in interactions. Posts that pose questions (?) receive 23% more engagement.

Keep URL/Link Post Titles Short

When posting a link to Facebook, if the title exceeds 100 characters, click on it to edit. Titles longer than 100 characters get truncated when posted to your fans' newsfeeds.

Extend Your Posting Hours Beyond Business Hours

Don't restrict your posts to business hours. Experiment with posting at various times throughout the day and even on weekends.

Posts published between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m. experience 11% more interactions than those published during typical working hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). They also receive 29% more interactions than posts published before work (1 a.m. to 8 a.m.).

Remember, Sundays see 25% more likes, shares, and comments than weekday posts. By posting over the weekend, you significantly enhance your chances of engagement since fewer than 18% of posts are published then. The weekend can be a goldmine of engagement opportunities!
