Google Boosts Ranking for Mobile Friendly Websites

BWYSEBLOG_MobileWebsiteReady_s.jpgRemember last April, when Google created Mobilegeddon?  Mobilegeddon Part 2 is being pushed out by Google.  Google has announced it is continuing to make the web more mobile friendly.

Beginning in May, Google began rolling out an update to mobile search results that increases the effect of the ranking signal to help their users find even more pages that are relevant and mobile-friendly.  If your web pages have a mobile-friendly label you will potentially experience an additional ranking boost.

Just because your site is built responsively doesn’t mean you automatically qualify for this label.  The 'mobile-friendly' label is one that you need to check to be sure each of your pages qualifies for - this is NOT a site wide label.

More about this update:

  • The mobile ranking single is web page specific.
  • This will only affect mobile results seen on a smart phone.
  • This will be part of the algorithm so any changes you make to your site will go live as soon as your site is crawled next.

If you’re not sure your website is mobile friendly, please call Wendy to request a mobile-friendly site audit.  ƒº
