Great Resource of Review Sites for Small Businesses
Written By: June Bachman ~ 3/1/2012 9:45:00 AM

Often times when a user searches for a specific brand or company, the top results are review websites or social networking sites, not necessarily the business’s website.  More and more businesses are being reviewed by consumers online.  Not only is it very important for all businesses to be aware of what is being written about them online, but also what prospective customers may find online as well.

Here is a list of popular review and social websites that you may want to take a look at to see what is being said about your company.  Moreover, take the time to claim the listing, and continue to monitor the reviews over time.

Start by checking out social media sites such as:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Yelp
  • Google Places
  • Bing Local
  • Yahoo Local
  • City Search
  • Local.com

Here are a few sites where your business or products might be getting reviews.

InsiderPages - Largely focused on rating those in the medical and health care field. Insider Pages also features reviews on restaurants, beauty and home & garden.

MerchantCircle - MerchantCircle focuses on promoting businesses and connecting busy people with the best local merchants.

OpenTable – Comprehensive review site for restaurants.  OpenTable.com allows users to make reservations immediately, so good reviews on this site can result in more customers.

BBB.org - The Better Business Bureau is a relative newcomer to the user review scene.  Check out your business’s rating and reviews.

Buzzillions - Buzzillions' focuses ons products such as electronics, computers, sports equipment, clothing, and more.  Manufacturers and retailers should research their products here.

Epinions – As part of Shopping.com, Epinions solicits reviews on just about anything a person can buy online -- from cars to office supplies.
